I’M MISSING YOU

To tell you that I miss you much –

Is to tell nothing.

I fly to you as a gull over the sea,

I run to you by the waves of wind.

Here in the dungeon I gasp for my breath

I close my eyes – and what do I see?

I see almost everybody’s face

But yours is out of reach for me.

To tell you that I miss you much –

I would, but if I only could

I’ll smoke heavily and drink much tea,

Just to forget and choke up my wrench.

And not to touch you with my thought through space

I’ll work too hard, so that I’m never free,

I will be seeing everybody’s face

But yours will be still out of reach for me.

Oh, I do miss you so much!

Inside myself I roar in despair,

I crash the mountains in my mind,

I tear the stars off the sky.

But nothing will disturb my pace

I won’t be coming out of the blue

I will be seeing everybody’s face

And will somehow forget about you.
